JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — The great granddaughter of late Indonesian dictator Gen. Suharto is being sent to drug rehab.
Putri Aryanti Haryowibowo was ordered to spend one year at a drug rehabilitation center Thursday after being convicted of using illegal drugs.
South Jakarta District Court heard that the 22-year-old was arrested in March after being found in a Jakarta hotel taking crystal methamphetamines.
Suharto oversaw one of the most brutal dictatorships of the 20th century. He was ousted in 1998 and died 10 years later.
This was the second drug case involving his family. In 2000, Putri's mother Gusti Maya Firanti Noor was sentenced to eight months in jail for possessing amphetamines.
