KUALA LUMPUR, Jul 11: Prime minister Najib Razak's call yesterday to the "silent majority" to make their stand know using online social media has found immediate takers.

At press time, more than 117,000 people have gathered in a Facebook page calling for his resignation, and the number is growing every minute since the page was launched over the weekend.
The Facebookers, cutting across racial and religius barriers, clicked the “Like” button on the page and posted various messages urging Najib to step down following the authorities’ harsh actions against the massive Bersih rally in the capital on July 9.
“Look at da unity here..this is what 1malaysia trully is..this is who we the people of malaysia really are..its racist b**tards like najjib & his goons which perpetuate racial segregation among da people...united we stand!!**ck off najib!!” wrote one.
Another broke out in poetics with several lines dedicated to the Agong seeking his attention.
“Ampun Tuanku Beribu-ribu Ampun,
Sembah Patik Harap DiAmpun,
Khabar Buruk Patik Sembahkan,
Harap Diteliti Dimurka Jangan.
"Perdana Menteri menjadi kebencian,
Pasukan Diraja menjadi cacian,
Rakyat mahukan keharmonian dan keadilan,
Mohon Tuanku Terajui Pemerintahan."
One fan said the page served as a good venue for the public to respond to Najib’s call on the "silent majority" - phrase used by the government to describe those opposed to Bersih.
“He (Najib) said that many of the rakyat did not attend Bersih 2.0 because they ignored Bersih 2.0. Here to let him know, not attending does not mean not supporting,” he wrote.
And while this report reaches this paragraph, the “Likes” have grown to more than 119,000, an increase of more than 1000 supporters in a span of 10 minutes.
It now remains to be seen whether Najib will be welcomed home from his current visit to Turkmenistan with yet another Facebook page showing huge public disapproval, after a similar page set up last year in opposition of his Warisan Merdeka tower mega project in Kuala Lumpur.
