PETALING JAYA, Mar 23: The pornographic video saga targeting Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim took another twist today when Sungai Petani member of parliament Johari Abdul revealed the identity of the culprits behind its distribution.

Speaking to reporters at PKR headquarters here, Johari said he was told by a close friend to accompany him to Flamingo Hotel in Ampang to meet former Melaka chief minister Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah.
Shortly afterwards, Rahim and Shazryl held another press conference, admitting his involvement and confirming Johari's story. He also named another individual by the name of Shuib Lazim, treasurer of right-wing UMNO offshoot Perkasa, saying the nickname "Dato T" referred to the trio.
Rahim, a former UMNO vice-president, served as Melaka's CM from 1982-1994, and fell from grace following revelation that he had illicit sex with a minor. Shazryl, who according to Johari is the man claiming to be 'Dato T', was the honorary Malaysian consul to Thailand.
Earlier this week, the heavily-guarded 'Dato T' invited several journalists to the posh Carcosa Seri Negara hotel to view a video clip he said showed Anwar having sex with a prostitute. Anwar had since issued a strong denial and urged police to investigate the culprit behind the clip.

Recalling what took place in the meeting on March 21, Johari (left) said Shazryl proceeded to play a video clip, the same clip shown to select group of journalists at another hotel on that day.
During the screening, Shazryl became the narrator describing the goings-on in the video clip, with several interruptions from Rahim belittling Anwar.
Shazryl claimed that he would occassionally bring Anwar to be entertained at various places, including Thailand, adding that they would occupy rooms adjacent to each other at each time.
At the end of the session, Rahim urged Johari to quit PKR, promising to "take care of all my financial and security needs". Rahim also wanted Johari to convince other PKR MPs to defect.
"I walked out of the room with my friend. In the lift, I hugged him and told him that having watched the whole video clip, I am convinced that the person in it is not Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim," said Johari.
He gave several reasons to back this, among which, said Johari, was that at the beginning of the said clip, a man was seen operating a video equipment when the "Anwar look alike" first made appearance.
"The Anwar look alike would definitely be aware that his act would be recorded. Unless one is paid, it is impossible that any right-thinking person would go ahead to do the act," said Johari.
Session for PKR MPs called off
Questioning the "extremely short" time when the face of the man in the video is splashed, Johari also echoed doubts by others who watched it about the physique of the man, saying he was more well-built than Anwar and had a pot belly.
He said the man's complexion was also very fair and "almost the same" to that of the woman in the video, who is said to be a Chinese prostitute.
Johari revealed that a special session for PKR MPs was arranged later on that day, but was cancelled.
Saying he was taking a risk by making his statement outside the Dewan Rakyat, which voids his immunity against legal action, Johari said:
"I am confident this latest episode is another vile plan to slander Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim."
